Job Description

Parts Specialist

Downtown Nashville Nissan is looking for a dedicated Parts Specialist! The Parts Specialist is extremely knowledgeable about automotive parts and accessories and can accurately answer questions and satisfy customer requirements in person or on the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Greet and assist customers (both retail and internal) in a friendly, professional manner, answering questions and providing product information and recommendations.
  • Parts Identification: Use physical and electronic parts catalogs to accurately identify and source the correct parts and accessories for customer needs.
  • Order Processing: Process orders for both in-stock and special-order parts, generate sales invoices, and manage payments and returns.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, stock shelves, perform cycle counts, and identify slow-moving or out-of-stock items to place orders with suppliers.
  • Sales and Promotions: Cross-sell related parts, accessories, and special offers to customers, aiming to expose them to the full product line.
  • Communication: Handle phone inquiries, provide price quotes, update customers on part shipment status, and coordinate with service technicians and suppliers.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is typically required.
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of automotive parts, systems, and common repair procedures is necessary.
  • Customer Service: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are vital for effectively interacting with customers.
  • Computer Proficiency: Ability to use computerized parts catalogs, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and inventory management software is essential.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management are needed for inventory tracking, record-keeping, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a larger team, collaborating with service advisors, technicians, and other parts staff.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy boxes and stand for extended periods.

Prior automotive experience preferred but not required.
