Roberts Markel Weinberg Butler Hailey PC (RMWBH) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented 2L or Rising 3L law student to join the firm's established Real Estate Practice Group in our Houston (Galleria) office. This is an excellent opportunity for a law student interested in real estate, land use, development, governance, and transactional law to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced attorneys on complex matters impacting communities throughout Texas.

Position Summary

The Real Estate Law Clerk will assist attorneys with a wide variety of real estate and development matters, including the drafting, review, and organization of legal documents, legal research, due diligence, and client-related projects. The law clerk will gain exposure to residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects while working closely with attorneys and support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Conduct legal research related to Texas real estate, land use, corporate governance, and development matters.

Assist with the review and analysis of plats, development agreements, easements, and related real estate documents.

Draft and revise restrictive covenants, amendments, policies, rules, and governance documents under attorney supervision.

Assist with the formation and maintenance of nonprofit corporations, including certificates of formation, bylaws, and organizational documents.

Support attorneys with due diligence reviews and document organization for real estate transactions and development projects.

Prepare correspondence, memoranda, summaries, and legal documents for attorney review.

Review statutes, regulations, municipal ordinances, and case law affecting clients and development projects.

Participate in client meetings, team meetings, and strategy discussions as appropriate.

Assist with special projects and other assignments within the Real Estate Practice Group.

Qualifications

Education

Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school.

Rising 3L (preferred) or completed at least one year of law school (2L).

Strong academic credentials required.

Preferred Coursework and Experience

Preference may be given to candidates who have completed coursework in:

Real Estate Law

Property Law

Land Use or Zoning

Business Organizations

Contracts

Local Government Law

Prior legal internship, clerkship, law review, moot court, or related experience is a plus but not required.
