Job Description Pipe Welder - Shipyard Opportunity Location: Mississippi
Job Type: Long-Term Shipyard Opportunity
Shift: Must be available to work any shift
HKA is currently hiring experienced
Pipe Welders for a long-term shipyard opportunity in Mississippi. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of
3 years of pipe welding experience and be able to perform welding procedures on stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe.
Pay Package: - Pay Rate: Up to $48.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Per Diem: $180.00 per day for qualified non-local candidates
Minimum Qualifications: - Minimum of 3 years of pipe welding experience
- Experience with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, also known as GTAW/TIG welding
- Experience with Shielded Metal Arc Welding, also known as SMAW/stick welding
- Ability to pass a military standard X-ray welding test on stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe in the restricted 6G position
- Ability to pass welding assessments in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions, including 3G, 2G, and 4G
- Must be able to work in a shipyard environment, including heights, confined spaces, various weather conditions, and multiple shifts
- Must be available to work ANY shift as production needs change
Welding Test Requirements: - Pipe welding test is performed in a restricted 6G position
- Test is completed on a 5-inch schedule 80 carbon steel pipe
- GTAW/TIG process is used for the root pass
- 11018 electrode is used for the weld fill portion and cap
Job Responsibilities: - Perform pipe welding procedures on stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe
- Use GTAW/TIG, SMAW/stick welding, and other required welding processes
- Work from shipyard requirements, procedures, and specifications
- Perform welding in production areas that may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a strong commitment to safe work practices
