In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the world-class powertrain supply chain efforts. The Advanced EV Development Global Supply Chain Manager will craft our world‑class powertrain supply chain strategy. This GSM will be responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for critical powertrain area spend, developing world‑class costing tools, leading negotiation and supply chain strategy creation for the entire end‑to‑end supply chain. Additionally, you’ll build supply chain risk‑reduction actions and design the supply chain to ensure compliance with global trade and tariff requirements. What you’ll do Develop first‑principles should‑cost tools together with engineering to provide ground‑up physics‑based minimum system or part cost. Enable enterprise‑level optimization by providing the powertrain optimization teams with the code‑based should‑cost tools to be integrated into the optimization plan. Use the should‑cost tool you create as a design input and a significant lever in obtaining superior commercial outcomes versus the competition. Develop unique prototype solutions that ensure sourcing leverage supports design lock and production program timing. Drive internal make‑vs‑buy studies with internal advanced manufacturing groups to ensure optimum outcomes. Understand schedule timing in great detail to enable the creation of creative commercial agreements that will help meet Ford’s commercial and cost requirements for the project. Work with ADVEV GSM partners to redefine the purchasing software and tools used to manage suppliers, part revisions, requirements, documentation, agreements, etc. Own RFIs and RFQs, ensuring agreements, NDAs, terms and conditions, etc. are completed on time and meet or exceed program requirements. Identify and develop key commercial partnerships throughout all necessary levels of the supply chain. The partnerships should allow Ford to enjoy cost leadership, supply in times of raw material scarcity, and geopolitical risk mitigation. Foster a collaborative costing culture both internally with Engineering and externally with supplier partners. All stakeholders should be supportive of the process and co‑own delivery of cost outcomes. Provide an expert knowledge and history of leading vendors and cost‑competitive traction motor designs and supply chains while monitoring global trends and technology roadmaps. Be prepared to expand your approach and knowledge base to learn new commodities in Powertrain. You’ll have Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 3+ years experience in supply chain management or commodity management. Experience bringing creative negotiation skills and out‑of‑the‑box strategy. Knowledge of high‑volume motor manufacturing processes, materials and supply chains. Strong relationship‑management skills with suppliers, including scorecards, issue resolution and reviews. Even better, you may have Master’s Degree. Hands‑on experience building and launching highly effective supply‑chain methodology. Strong written and verbal communication skills. An eagerness to work cross‑functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high‑performing team. A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
